Points leader Denny Hamlin came out of Dover with a strong finish and although he had some controversial words with RCR drivers and an on track confrontation with Kevin Harvick, he remains the favorite fantasy racing driver to overtake Johnson’s four year reign of champion. Kyle Busch also remains a contender in third, but needs some consistent runs to win.
Richard Childress Racing drivers Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer are coming off of a rough week at Dover, but they may be able to turn it around at Kansas, as they have dominated the 1.5 tracks this year.
Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, and Jimmie Johnson all have wins at Kansas and Gordon has three consecutive top-5 finishes at Kansas, so he could be the fantasy racing sleeper this week, and with a win, he could turn his chase around after dropping four places this week.
Ford drivers Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle could turn their chase around this week as well, they have had luck on the 1.5 mile tracks this year and their engine department is running strong. Edwards had a strong run in Dover, but needs a win to turn his season.
Another driver to watch outside the chase this week at Kansas is A.J. Allmendinger, who had a great finish this week at Dover and may have had the dominant car before having a cut tire. He fought his way back to a top-10 and has showed promise of getting his first cup win. Other fantasy drivers to watch are Juan Montoya and Jamie McMurray, who both continue to have good runs, but lack consistency.
